College/Career Readiness: ANHS Prepares You for the Future

College and Career Readiness is the focus of many K-12 initiatives nationwide, due largely to the support and encouragement offered by President Obama and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. There are many different approaches to preparing our youth for success after high school. However, the goal is the same; students should not only earn a high school diploma, they should be prepared to join the global economy as productive members that can compete internationally.

College and Career Preparation

Allied National High School is at the forefront of this important movement. We have added an additional diploma track, which gives our students the opportunity to study college preparatory curriculum or career preparatory curriculum. The college preparatory diploma offers lab sciences, foreign language, and rigorous academic electives such as Sociology and Marine Biology. Students pursuing a general diploma can take elective courses that can prepare them for a career, such as MTAPPP (Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Pharmacology) and Microsoft Office courses.

Dual Enrollment

Allied National High School also offers a dual enrollment program with Allied American University and Allied Business Schools. Through this program, students can take college courses or vocational courses during their senior year, and earn both high school and post-secondary credit. Not only does this save time and money, it prepares students for college or their careers while they are still in high school. Students that participate in this program will have a competitive edge compared to their peers because they will already have credit for these courses listed on their transcript, which provides evidence that they are prepared for the next step in their postsecondary education or career.
